Must Have for Chiseling

"pure quality. . . . . really makes a difference in chiseling. . . . . . had no idea how much better and easier it would be with a wooden mallet"

Solid hammer

"Great mallet, beautiful craftsmanship."

The only reason I didn't

"The only reason I didn't rate this with 5 stars is because I have not had a chance to use it yet. The mallet is well built and feels good in the hand. Seems to meet the typical high quality of other Garrett Wade product."

ARTHUR S. (4/5)

Awesome!

"I use this more than I thought I would. Customer service was rude upon order inquiry as it took days to ship."

Beechwood Mallet

"Loved the quality. The handle could have been slightly longer."

Nice quality mallet. A good replacement for my old one that finally died

"So my old one was pretty abused on both faces. I have used a round, hard rubber mallet, but I found that I just like the feel of a wooden one more often."

Beechwood mallet

"Perfect weight and size for our kind of work."

A great mallet but needs chamfers.

"I needed a wooden mallet to seat axe wedges on some vintage heads I'm restoring. Overall, it's a great mallet but the mating edges of the handle and head really need chamfers to ensure long term tool life without damage. I used a file to cut 45° angles on the handle and the top and bottom edges of the head. Only took about 15 minutes and it's much easier mount or remove the head now. When I first received the mallet, it took a few hard whacks with a dead blow hammer to knock the handle loose."

Excellent design & manufacture

"I made a traditional mallet like this in wood shop school over 50 years ago. This one is almost a replica & works as well as my original. Is very ergonomic. With a handle length that allows a close grip for light work & a longer grip for more heavy work. Thanks for a great tool"
